Iron-catalyzed carbonylative Suzuki reactions under atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide.

The first highly effective iron-catalyzed carbonylative Suzuki reaction has been developed. Substrates with electron-donating or electron-withdrawing functionality, ortho-substitution, as well as active groups proceeded smoothly, affording desired products in high yields. This protocol is economical, environmentally benign and practical for the synthesis of biaryl ketones.

Preparation of Carbon Molecular Sieves from Pistachio Shell and Walnut Shell for Kinetic Separation of Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen, and Methane

In this study, two Carbon Molecular Sieves using Pistachio shell (CMS P) and Walnut shell (CMS W) were prepared by a chemical vapor deposition method and used for pressure swing adsorption and separation of CO/H2 and CO/CH4. Adsorption isotherms of gases obtained for both CMS’s. The Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm model was used for comparing pore volum...

Rhodium(III)-catalyzed oxidative carbonylation of benzamides with carbon monoxide.

An efficient strategy for the oxidative carbonylation of aromatic amides via C-H/N-H activation to form phthalimides using an Rh(III) catalyst has been developed. The reaction shows a preference for C-H bonds of electron-rich aromatic amides and tolerates a variety of functional groups.

Carbon dioxide reduction to methane and coupling with acetylene to form propylene catalyzed by remodeled nitrogenase.

A doubly substituted form of the nitrogenase MoFe protein (α-70(Val)(→Ala), α-195(His→Gln)) has the capacity to catalyze the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO(2)) to yield methane (CH(4)). Under optimized conditions, 1 nmol of the substituted MoFe protein catalyzes the formation of 21 nmol of CH(4) within 20 min. The catalytic rate depends on the partial pressure of CO(2) (or concentration of HCO...

Fluoride-catalyzed nucleophilic addition of PhSCF2SiMe3 to anhydrides: synthesis of γ-difluoromethylated γ-lactams.

PhSCF2SiMe3 () underwent fluoride-catalyzed nucleophilic addition to the carbonyl group of anhydrides to provide the corresponding γ-difluoro(phenylsulfanyl)methyl γ-lactols, which were employed for the synthesis of γ-difluoromethylated γ-lactams.
